Soroptimist International of Lodi

Candy Cane Park
1324 Holly Drive, Lodi, CA

Candy Cane Park was established in the late 1950s by Soroptimist International of Lodi. The club refurbished the park in 1992.

As the years passed, the park was once again in need of repair.  A local citizen, Myrna Wetzel, campaigned tirelessly for the park renovation and playground replacement. The City of Lodi ultimately renovated the park in 2019.  A substantial part of the funding came from Measure L, a sales tax increase approved by local voters in 2018.

The ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the re-opening of the park took place on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Members of SI Lodi along with hundreds of community members attended the event. During the ceremony, city leaders said a few words and recognized the role of Soroptimist in the park's history.  Many excited children played on the new equipment.  We distributed candy cane pencils with our email address to the crowd. Laura had affixed our mission statement to some of the pencils and these were given to prospective members.
